New York Comic Con

A fan convention has a conversation happening long before anyone walks through the doors.

On the ground

Most of my work ran through an "always on" fandom account. I wrote copy and replies and created Stories on the fly, with little oversight, so we could always participate in the conversation.

I also spearheaded some of the first NYCC videos with staff on camera by running NYCC Updates on Facebook, short videos that explained any updates about the show floor.

I often did sponsored Story adventures, like going to see King Kong on Broadway and letting fans decide my day through Stories sticker votes. I also went to midnight events for comic and video game releases, trivia nights, and fandom meetups all year long, slowly becoming a face fans recognized and trusted.

Content and partnerships

I made Stories and short-form video throughout the year and worked with influencers on fan-facing content for the show.

The voice

This is where I cut my teeth on always-on fandom, quickly becoming a fan of fans and keeping up with every conversation I could find. I was chronically online before it was a requirement of social media managers.

What stuck with me

The work I loved most kept me close to what fans were talking about and gave that enthusiasm a place in the creative.

Bring me into the conversation.

I’m pursuing brand and content strategy work in entertainment and fandom.
